Where is Thy First Love?

Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Revelation 2:4-5

Jesus sternly rebuked the Ephesian church for the loss of their first love, Rev 2:4. He threatened to pluck off their candle stick. Now if that threat were to be carried out, during the series of events that would culminate in their candlestick being plucked out, spiritual dryness( no refreshing spiritual experiences, and move of God) would largely characterized their condition. For “How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?”Deuteronomy 32:30
Their first love which was their fervent love and zeal towards Christ, Holiness, and heaven, they had left and Christ was displeased with them. They must return and do their first work. They must endeavour to revive and recover their first zeal, tenderness, and seriousness, and ought to pray as earnestly, and watch as diligently, as they did when they first began their Christian journey. This is the case with many Christians and churches. They no longer love God as they used to do, and so spiritual refreshing has become a thing of the past among them.
