Too many persons have professed themselves prophets in these days of charismatic wave in Christiandom. And different kinds of spirits have passed on for the Spirit of the prophets, yet the Bible strictly warns us to test all spirits whether they be of God.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
To this end, let’s realize that no prophet of God is higher than the Word of God (the Bible).
1 Corinthians 4:6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written…
The word of God is God. It is the voice of the Spirit of God by which we know the will, and ways of God. Through the lab test of the Bible, we can tell whether or not it is God speaking or behind a thing. And note for sure that the same Spirit that worked in the prophets of God in the Bible is the same Spirit that works in all prophets of God through all ages, being consistent in all his ways, for as the Bible says: God is not the author of confusion. If it does not portray the God of the Bible, it is certainly not the God of the Bible — consistent are all his ways through eternity.
