Following hard after Jesus

My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. Psalms 63:8

The heart that loves Christ is the heart that follows hard after him. He who professes to love Jesus must come to that point where he is a diehard follower of Christ, else he is just joking. Satan is not bothered about those who merely profess to love Christ, but would run from the cross. They are no source of concern to him. He is only concerned and bothered about diehard followers of Christ. They are headache to the kingdom of darkness. They spread the gospel like mad, wreaking havoc to Satan’s kingdom, and are unyielding to all his wiles and gimmicks to make them change their minds. The world doesn’t know what to do with the diehard followers either. They are settled and bigoted about their convictions in Christ. Simply put, they are willing to die for their belief in Christ than to renounce their faith. This heart we see in the Apostles of Jesus and many saints of the early church. They were willing to lay down their neck for the gospel of Christ.
Friend, to follow Jesus you have to follow his teachings and his ways. He who says he loves Jesus but is not an adherent of Christ’s teachings and a strict follower of his ways does not truly love Christ, or perhaps doesn’t know what love for Christ means. Anyone may claim to love God, but it is those who follow him that truly love him.
Following Jesus demands your being his disciple, learning his word and his ways, acknowledging him as your Lord and master, taking after him, and letting him lead you to eternity through the path of life he has revealed.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: John 10:27
