God gives you his word as His precious gift to you. The word is at your disposal for your benefits as his beloved child.
But the word can only work for you when you know how to have it work for you. Now this is how to have the word work for you.
1. Know what the word offers. If you do not know what are offered in the Word, you can’t enjoy what it offers. What you don’t know you are shut out from. It starts from first knowing what is written.
Isaiah 34:16
Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
1 Corinthians 2:12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
To know what are freely given you of God, you must keep searching the word with the lamp of the Holy Spirit.
2. Believe the Word: By believing the word,
1. You become a registered candidate for its benefits. God wants his report to be believed (Isa 53:1). God’s provisions in the word are what he has already done and made available for you in Christ. He needs you to believe His report that he has done it for you. For instance he says in Isaiah 53:5 that Christ was wounded for your transgression and took away your infirmities and by his stripes you are healed. But he starts by saying in verse 1, who has believed our reports and to whom is the arm of the lord revealed. What the mighty arm of the Lord has done is only made known by revelation. And the Bible is the report and the revelation of what the arm of the Lord has done in thought of us. When we believe what God has done for us, we become registered candidates for the blessing. Luke 1:45 says,
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
2. You see the power of God in action. The power of God only goes in action when you believe. Jesus said to Martha at the grave of his brother, Lazarus, before he raised him back to life:
…Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? John 11:42
3: Do the Word. The word of God is full of covenant instructions, you do them to profit from them. It when you do what the word says that God is committed to make good his word in your life. Without doing the word you can’t be beneficiaries of its provision. Why? Because you always have a part of obedience to play.
John 2:5
His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
4: Speak the word: when you speak the word in faith, you release its power to go forth and work for you.
Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
In Joshua 1:8 God says,
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth….
5: Meditate on the word: You have to meditate on the word. It is when you meditate on the word that
1. Its principles take control of your spirit, mind and body causing you to have experiences as designed in the word, and live the kind of life ordained for you in God.
Jeremiah 15:16
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
2. You draw the full operational content of the word — the power (Heb 1:3), the Spirit and the life.
John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
6. Understand the Word: understanding the word is like digesting food. That is only when the food can deliver its nutrients to you. It is when you understand the word that it can
1.deliver its power to you. The word of God is the power of God unto salvation to them that believe, but until you understand it, it can’t deliver deliver its saving power and save you. The Eunuch was reading the scriptures but didn’t understand it and couldn’t get saved until Philip came to make him understand it.
Acts 8:30-31
[30]And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
[31]And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
2. delivers its power in you. That is when the word works in you, becoming the power working in you to bring to pass in your life all you can think and ask according to the word.
John 15:7
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Ephesians 3:20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
3. Stay full of God and not full of sin, and the world.
Ephesians 3:18-19
[18]May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
[19]And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
4. That is when the word cannot be stolen from you to cause you to lose its precious offers, and not bear the expected fruits eg holiness and love.
Matthew 13:19
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
7. See the Word: when the eyes of our understanding sees from God’s perspective what God is saying in his word; that is, when we see what God is showing in his word we:
1. We are transformed to conform to the picture of Christ revealed in the word. For instance, Christ is holy, we cannot be sinful. Christ is in dominion over all, we can’t be victims. Christ can’t be sick, we live sickness free. Christ is full of faith, we can’t be full of doubts. As we open up to the word, what we keep seeing, we keep getting transformed to become.
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18
2. We take possession of what the Word offers. If you can see your freedom from sicknesses and diseases in the word, for example, you take possession of your sickness free living. Gods miraculous well of water was there with Hagar but her baby was dying with thirst. She could not take of it because she could not see it.
Genesis 21:19
And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
You must ask the Lord to open your eyes so you can see his wonderous offers for you in his word (Ps 119:18) that you may know what is freely given unto you by God(1Cor 2:12), for it is as your eyes can see that you can take of your inheritance in God
Genesis 13:14-15
[14]And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
[15]For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
Seeing it is your first step empowerment to your possessing it.
…See, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his country. Begin to take possession of it and engage him in battle. Deut.2.24
